An 18-year-old gunman, Salvador Romas, walked into an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday afternoon and killed 14 children and a teacher, ABC News is reporting.

According to Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, police are believed to have killed the gunman. He disclosed this during a news conference.

”He shot and killed, horrifically, incomprehensibly, 14 students and killed a teacher,” said the governor. According to the Associated Press, the gunman was a resident of the community and entered the school with a handgun, and possibly a rifle, and opened fire, Abbott said.

It is reported that the gunman also shot his grandmother before entering the school.
