South Korea’s science minister on Tuesday said its newly-launched space rocket Nuri carrying a verification satellite, had successfully made communication with the country’s King Sejong Station in Antarctica, Yonhap reported.

The three-stage Nuri rocket succeeded in releasing and placing its functioning “performance verification” satellite at an altitude of 700 kilometers (435 miles) after its liftoff from South Korea’s space launch center at 4 p.m., the Science Ministry said.
